Intellectual Property

An organization’s intellectual property is all of the intangible assets that bring value to that organization. They include trademarks to protect the organization’s brand, copyright protections for creative works and trade secret protections for confidential information.

At Nussbaum Gleason, we advise businesses, nonprofits and religious organizations on how best to protect their intellectual property. When disputes arise, we protect and defend their rights through litigation.

We advise clients on whether a trademark is eligible for prosecution and registration, and we represent clients in federal trademark prosecutions to register and maintain their marks.

We work with clients to craft handbooks, policies, and employment agreements that allow employees to explore their creative potential while protecting the organization’s intellectual property.

We draft license agreements for clients’ trademarks, copyrighted materials and trade secrets, and advise them on licensing deals so they can avoid common pitfalls and minimize the potential for disputes.

Additional services in this area include:

  • Intellectual property litigation
  • Publishing agreements
  • Nondisclosure agreements
  • Workplace measures to protect sensitive IP
  • Noncompete and non-solicitation agreements
  • Charitable donations of intellectual property
